About Me

What is identity? Is it defined by appearances or experiences? What makes a good or bad identity? Both of my parents are Korean and therefore I have a ‘Korean’ appearance, but I have lived in Colombia for seventeen years ever since I was one year old. The only world I knew in my mind was the world of an Asian minority in a land far from ‘home’. People always asked me if I considered myself Colombian or Korean and I never really knew what to answer.

I was so busy struggling and stressing about my identity due to social prejudice that I hadn’t realized how privileged I am and how valuable those experiences were in strengthening me. After all, my multi-cultural experience has led me to one of the most elite schools in South Korea, become an asset in a globalized era, and gain the ability to interact with people from all around the world. Leveraging my diverse background, I want to contribute to global organizations by being able to work with diverse individuals, understand global issues, and essentially create better opportunities and quality of life for people all around the world.
